The Curse - Genesis 3:16
The biggest question asked is "Why do women stay in abusive marriages?"
This is a question I have asked myself many years now as well.
Why do women stay in these crazy, insane, most of the time extremely abusive marriages
that goes against sound judge and commonsense.
Why?
Why do women chose to stay in these marriages?
What if the answer isn't so much psychological as it is spiritual?

Genesis 3:16 Unto
the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy
conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire
shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
About 17 years ago, I sat with a Mother who just found out her daughter had wrecked her car, the reason why was what perplexed her. It seemed her daughter had met a man over the internet and was on her way to the bus station to pick this man up. The Mother repeated the same, "She knew better. She knew how dangerous of a situation that was. She had heard the stories. Why did she do this?"
I had just read the scripture in Genesis 3:16
"and thy desire shall be to thy husband."
Desire. Desire is a sense of longing or hoping for a person, object, or outcome. The same sense is expressed by emotions such as " craving ". When a person desires something or someone, their sense of longing is excited by the enjoyment or the thought of the item or person, and they want to take actions to obtain their goal.
The answer seemed so simple to me.
Every women from the beginning of time has one desire.
For a man.
To be loved.
To be adored.
To be wanted by one man.
When a man answers that longing, a women hangs on to him with everything she has from the very depths of her soul. This desire can over ride commonsense. It will over ride a women's morals and even spiritual convictions that she loyally has followed.
While I worked at Union Gospel Mission one of my customers told me of a young girl he knew that was now pregnant out of wedlock. He was shocked, as others were as well. Why did this girl make this choice? She had portrayed herself to be a very Godly girl, with Godly wisdom, active in the church, her youth group, and a deep desire to serve and follow God. She had proclaimed her stance in purity and yet, here she was, now pregnant and the guy had abandoned her. How could this be?
Simple.
Her desire for a man.
Her desire to be loved by a man overruled her
strong convictions and proclamations to purity.
strong convictions and proclamations to purity.
In her desire for a man, she did not see how this man was using her, abused her, simply using her for his pleasure and when he was done with her, he threw her out with yesterdays trash.
Which brings us to the second half of the curse, something that I did not see until a friend sent me an article entitled the Curse is an Abusive Marriage.
He will rule over thee. Genesis 3:16b
Rule over thee -
Rule over thee -
To exercise absolute authority or control over someone or something. The dictator rules over the region with an iron fist.
Sadly, the curse, founded in sin, did not hold promise of a deep fulfilling marriage.
It is quit the opposite.
It holds the promise that a man will abuse and use a women. He will exercise authority over, demand complete submission, and marriage will be a tyrannical dictatorship.
It seems, that a women, instead of getting out of the marriage, she hangs on tighter. Her desire to make the marriage work over rules logic.

There are a few women that will get out and not look back, often times though,
falling right back into the same situation, sometimes worse than the first situation.
Some of these women don't get out.
Some end up in the news, dead.
We also see the opposite.
We see women who will commit horrendous crimes to stay with these men. I recently read an article of a women who killed her 2 year child because she thought he was in the way of her relationship with her man.

There is hope though.
Jesus came to break this curse.
If we choose to, we do not have to be subject to this curse, there is a better way.

Like all scripture though, Satan has subtly twisted this scripture to deceive Believers to the meaning of this scripture.
I fell for it and have slowly been undoing the thinking and teaching. The following blog posts I am going to share is how Satan has twisted these scriptures to keep marriages and people in bondage or still under the curse.
*I do want to make a note here.
Most Christians are taught that when Jesus Christ died on the cross the curse was broken.
This is true but.....
It is our choice whether or not that we choose to walk in that freedom.
What breaks the curse - love.
Walking in Love takes work.
It takes dying to self.
